PNG Marine Observatory Pty Ltd focus in marine observatory and marine weather services. We provide ocean observatory and meteorogical solutions to face climate change and ocean pollution.

We provide a range of weather monitoring equipment, including a territory-wide network of automatic weather stations for measuring wind, pressure, temperature, humidity and rainfall, a network of cameras and visibility meters for providing real-time weather photos and visibility readings, a lightning location network for detecting lightning.

To maintain our marine ecosystem we also provides integrated system that measures physical, chemical, geological, and biological phenomena in carefully selected key coastal, regional, and global areas.

Products

Data Buoys

Handle real-time data collection applications in waters from the Great Lakes to the Arctic. Each of this data buoys comes equipped with at solar panels, pass-through holes for water sensor deployment and topside mounts for weather sensors.

Autonomous Vehicle Profiler

Explore and understand the world’s oceans by gathering data powered by wave and solar energy, this product is an autonomous, unmanned surface vehicle (USV) that operates individually or in fleets delivering real-time data for up to a year with no fuel.

Visibility Weather Sensors

Automatic Weather Station (AWS) provided with a visibility (and present weather) sensor. Forward and backward scatter principles are quite common, while transmisiometers are often used for airfield applications. Many aviation authorities nowadays also accept the use of forward scattering sensors. Observator has chosen the use of the Biral-range for these kinds of measurement. Their visibility sensor has proven to be accurate and long lasting within marine environments while present weather can also be determined using their range.

Multibeam Scan Sonar

Like other sonar systems, multibeam systems emit sound waves in a fan shape beneath a ship's hull. The amount of time it takes for the sound waves to bounce off the seabed and return to a receiver is used to determine water depth. Unlike other sonars, multibeam systems use beamforming to extract directional information from the returning soundwaves, producing a swath of depth readings from a single ping.

Weather Data Loging Software

Provides real-time display of the weather data, including custom dials, gauges, graphs, strip charts and images, detailed data analysis and reports, including daily, monthly and yearly reports.
